Archbishop Christophe Pierre, Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, joins from left to right, Fr. James McCann, SJ, Senior Vice President of the Gregorian University Foundation; Fr. Alan Fogarty, SJ, President of the Gregorian University Foundation; Mrs. Ellen Shafer and Mr. William Frank, Esq., Trustees of the Gregorian University Foundation; and Fr. Robert Boxie III of St. Joseph Church in Largo, MD. Fr. Boxie, ordained last year, recently completed his studies at the Gregorian University.
The evening began with a welcome from GUF President Fr Alan Fogarty, SJ. His Excellency, Most Rev. Christophe Pierre, the Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, then led the official blessing which included a Gospel passage read by Gregorian Alumnus Fr Robert Boxie and prayers of petition read by Trustees Ellen Shafer and Bill Frank. Senior Vice President Fr James McCann, SJ read a letter of greeting from Fr Juan Antonio Guerrero Alves, SJ, the Personal Delegate of the Superior General of the Society of Jesus to the Interprovincial Roman Houses and Works. Fr Fogarty ended the program with an invitation to all our guests to share in the mission of the Gregorian University Foundation. Immediately following the blessing, the group retreated to the Mezzanine level for food and fellowship. It was a wonderful gathering!
