Pontifical Biblical Institute Roof Restoration Project

Fr George’s Birthday Wish

During the Gregorian University Foundation’s last Colloquium in 2019, Fr. George saw firsthand the most urgent need of the Pontifical Biblical Institute (“Biblicum”), a global treasure in the heart of our universal Church.  Architects have presented a comprehensive plan for major preservation work for both the buildings’ roofs and facades. For his birthday this year, Fr. George is requesting donations to repair this critical facility.

Recently, engineers or architects discovered a serious concern for the roof over the 434-year-old historic structure referred to as the Community building, which still houses the Jesuit faculty. A roof restoration is crucial for all who live, work and study at the Biblicum. Originally built in 1587, it was given to the Biblicum by Pope Pius XII in 1945.

Fr. George and all of us at the GUF hope we can count on you to help save this piece of history.  Every donation, both large and small, will bring us closer to repairing and preserving the Community building (or Biblicum).  All benefactors will be listed on the GUF website and in the GUF Impact Report.  A special plaque will be placed at the Biblicum with the names of major donors to this project. Thank you.
